As I learn about Puerto Rico I get to share what I have learned with all of you. So if you’re ever interested in learning about just Puerto Rico you have come to the right blog. As my Professor gets to read this she gets to critique everything because, who knows Puerto Rico better than her?
To start off it is located in North America in-between The Dominican Republic and St. Kitts. Puerto Rico’s capital and largest city is San Juan with the population of 355,074 (2015). San Juan got its name by Christopher Columbus when the island became discovered in 1493 after John the Baptist(nationfacts.net)The top two languages spoken are Spanish and English. Politically they are Republic, Representative Democracy, and Presidential system.
Now the fun facts are, the largest telescope in the world is located in Puerto Rico. Basketball, Volleyball, and Boxing are the top favorite sports. As some people might think when talking to another you are to greet with a handshake and are to stand a reasonably length away from each other. Puerto Rico Is very well-mannered to where they stand very close to each other when talking and approach each other with a kiss on the cheek. Another eye-opening fact is the U.S. changed its name to Porto Rico in 1898 and was changed again to Puerto Rico in 1931. The U.S. has also tried buying Puerto Rico for $160 million dollars and Spain rejected the offer.
